Webmbsync is a tool written in python to facilitate the downloading and uploading of mail from an IMAP server. There are other programs for doing this (namely, OfflineIMAP), but I chose mbsync because it was the easiest for me to setup, didn't have any weird certificate errors with gmail, and it was incredibly fast. My mbsync setup uses two gmail accounts. WebMy understanding is that mbsync will be happy to call whatever sasl plugins your system has available, including XOAUTH2, which seems to be what office365 calls for. Unfortunate thing 1: for security reasons, the SASL that ships with macos is one of those protected things that they really don't want you messing with, and so it is hard to upgrade.

ADDED 11/28: There is a Debian package (at least unstable) with an OAUTH2 mechanism. It is called libsasl2-modules-kdexoauth2.
